Like many things in life, the story of our loft begins with a vision…
… For 3 years we were looking for the perfect loft and invested a lot of time in viewings. But like so many things in life, things turned out differently. Due to the crisis it was not possible to travel, so we only had blind faith in ourselves and the local estate agent. It was love at first sight. We visualised and planned the renovation completely in Vienna. When it was possible to travel, the excitement increased. We were eager to enter the flat we had never seen and yet had bought. When we looked out of the window at the sea for the first time, we knew we had done the right thing.
The bathroom
The 70s-style bathroom no longer met modern comfort standards. The decision to completely gut it and rebuild it was therefore made quickly. We were not yet aware of how many stumbling blocks would await us. We removed 974kg of rubble and a walled-in bathtub.
Now you will find a completely redesigned bathroom with an Italian walk-in shower and rain shower head. The washstand and the sink have a new design. The floor is tiled with vintage tiles completely seamless to the entrance area.
The living space
The loft was a large room with a hatch to the kitchen. The entire loft was covered with a terracotta floor. We replaced it with laminate flooring.
We bricked up the bar area, installed a sliding door to the anteroom and put up a partition wall with a window to separate it from the living area. So that you can see the sea directly after waking up.
Thus, one room became two.
The kitchen
Turn old into new. Since we fell in love with the French style of the old wooden kitchen, we redesigned it with furniture paint in white and blue. Again, we paid attention to the small details like the lovely ceramite knobs on the drawers. The tile backsplash was painted with tile varnish in white. A light, easy-care laminate flooring was also laid here.
The loggia
The floor of the loggia has been renovated with self-laid tiles. A seating area for two people with a view of the sea and soft cushions has been furnished. A folding table with tray is available for a cosy breakfast or a drink in the evening. The additional folding chair brings another seat. The two outdoor solar lanterns create a romantic atmosphere.
